Special Designs

I was talking to my son a while back about the way he used to say Popsicle. He was only three at the time, so he could only say "Pop-it-skull".

After we talked, I suggested that I should draw up a "Pop-it-skull" and this is the result.

I thought that was a fun idea. It did have a splash of red behind it, but I removed it for the shirt and decided to keep it simple. It can be found at zazzle.

Another time, I was just sitting around, playing with sketching and drew up this angry onion guy. I think it is funny, so I decided to share it.

This was also put into a shirt design and can be found on my store online at www.zazzle.com/angry_onion_shirt.

As always, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy!

Skate Designs

I am not a skater, but I like the grunge design scene. So I find myself drawn to the world of the skater. Street art also fascinates me. I think skate culture and street art go hand in hand. Here in LA there is always a mural or some art to see while walking around. It's one of the things that I like about living here.

When I worked in graphic design for the recreation center in St. George, Utah. I was asked to come up with some shirt designs for a skate competition. So I started to research styles and designs and that was my first experience with the grunge skater style.

Ever since then, I have really liked making those designs. The spatter, and dirty edges are just so much fun to play around with. If I can come up with more splatter/grunge designs unrelated to skating, I would. That is how I came up with the RUN.HIDE.SURVIVE. designs I guess.

For the most recent skate designs, I was more free to do what I wanted and the following four graphics are the pieces I created for the shirts.

As usual, these are all available online at my store, www.zazzle.com/dafunkd. If you have any questions about these designs, please fell free to contact me. I would be glad to discuss what I use to create these designs.

Getting Creative

I decided it would be best to create some original things that I had rolling around in my head into shirt designs. I seem to have at least one shirt idea a day, but they don't always come to fruition. One day I wanted to make a Bacon and Eggs shirt, for no real reason, so I did. That is the beauty of the Zazzle website. You are free to try what you want to, no charge.

I know something like this has been done before, but I could not get the image out of my head, until I made the design. Then I started getting into Pop Art styles and made a fashion face design.
To me this almost looks like a Miley Cyrus face, but I can assure you, it is not. I used a random model as reference, no one specific, just an image I found online.

Before these I was also into Art Deco, and I still am. I love the geometric shapes and patterns that are all over Art Deco architecture. So the below design is what I worked up. I still have a few more ideas I am playing around with as well.

It reminds me of the front of a space ship, like the ones in Jupiter Rising. Speaking of space ships. At one point I was making space designs. I still think I like Science Fiction stuff the most as I am a bit of a Trekkie. So I put together a few simple designs that I had imagined with a fleet of ships.

Finally, I am also a gamer. I love seeing all the Geek and Game shirts online. So I wanted to add my own twist to the graphic tee market. I worked up an idea I had a while back but could not get my head around it until I sat down to draw it up digitally.

Do you remember the Maxell commercials, with the guy listening to music? This is the one.

This image has been spoofed a thousand times, from the Simpsons to Family guy and more. So I saw this as a perfect platform for gamers. Below is the concept I had for the graphic tee.

I kept it simple, but I think it conveys the point. A guy sitting, playing games that are blowing him away. Just like the guy in the Maxell ad. But this time, there is a flat screen TV and a console. I even have a controller for a game console in his hand, but it is hard to understand. As an extra push towards the Maxell ad, I even used the word "Maximum" to play off the name Maxell.

What do you think? Any of these designs are available for purchase in my store at www.zazzle.com/dafunkd

Breaking Bad

So I am a fan of Breaking Bad. I was late to enjoy the show, but thanks to Netflix. I was able to enjoy it all in a short time and with no interruptions. I love streaming services!

I imagined what it would be like if there was a company that Walter started for a chemical corporation. I tried to keep in mind the basis for his love of the pure chemical, as well as including element that look like they could be found in a lab. This is the result.

Let me know what you think! If you like it or not. It is available for purchase on a light colored shirt at my store on zazzle.

After the Undead...

After I uploaded these designs from my line of RUN.HIDE.SURVIVE. zombie shirts.

I decided to work on a few other designs.

I wasn't sure why, but I was really into classic movie monsters. So I worked up some Frankenstein/Dracula/Mummy graphics to put on shirts. But I realized those are under copyright with Universal and that would require me obtaining a licence to produce them. So that was canned.

While that went out the window. I decided to play around with an idea of a city under siege by monsters and aliens; and this is what I imagined.

These designs are also available on my store at http://www.zazzle.com/dafunkd. So check it out! I am always adding more items as my imagination allows.

Graphic Design

Hi,

My name is Mike and I 'm a graphic designer. I used to work for a municipality in Utah in their recreation department. I would make flyers, posters, shirt designs, etc; and I really liked making the shirts. So I decided to start making my own designs and ideas for shirts available to the public.

You can find my posted designs at http://www.zazzle.com/dafunkd

I am currently working on more designs, but if you have any suggestions on changed or possible designs, please feel free to contact me.

In the mean time, check out the RUN.HIDE.SURVIVE. line of zombie shirts I have created.

If the designs are not view-able on zazzle yet, they say it can take up to 24 hours, so check back later.
Thanks and Enjoy.
